I have just this second got back from the last NWG meeting of 2007 and after watching the three or four wonderfull video clips and it has made me post the following photograph:

The model organ in the photograph was featured in one of our video's tonight which I was thrilled to see. The model was built by Eric Williamson of Machniations museam in North Wales which I visit every year and will be visiting again in May next year. I spoke to Eric recently and the model is based on an interst in carved work and fairground organs etc.

The clip of the model was of it in Manchester at the hospital I think but this was filmed in 1991 (the year I was born).

I have known this great model and the others in the museam for over nine years now and see it every single year and even have a go at operating the three mechanical figures on it with the monkey.
The model used to be in a trailer with pipework at the top but it is now pernamantly housed in the Machnations Museam in North Wales which I visit every year.

Hope the above information is of interst, it is just a shame this model can't come to our model night in January!

Hi Robert.

Very interesting to know where that model is now.

It would be good to get it to the model night!

For anyone interested, the Machinations website is on: http://www.machinations.org.uk/

Regards, Dave

Hi Robert.
The Automaton Model which was housed in a trailer at the time of the Fops North West Model night was commissioned by a Lady (whose name escapes me at the moment who came from Liverpool .
She also had another Automaton model based on a Dickensian Christmas Shop Window scene with a small boy gazing longingly into the window at all the goodies on display. Both played background music from a prerecorded tape usually of a Fair Organ.
They could be seen in Liverpool every week collecting for the Marie Curie Charity.
She also owned an original Romany caravan at the same time.
I have often wondered what happened to them so thanks for the info.
By the way I wonder if the Dickensian Aotomaton is housed in the same museum?.
I will have to use the Link that Dave has posted to see if there is any info about it.
Many thanks.
George

PS.

Just had a quick glance at the site and it gives the Lady owners name
"Pat Osborne"

hello Dave and George

the Automaton model based on a Dickensian Christmas Shop Window scene is in the machinations museam but when I was at the museam in July earlier this year it was out of order as were a few others sadly.

You now have to buy old coins and feed them to the machines to make them work now which is making a little more money for the museam.

there is also a lovely model of some can can girls on a stage but when i was at the museam this year someone had obviously snapped their legs of which was a shame.

the (subject model) is named " The Three musicians" if I remember!
