Hi all,
RBA rentals in Holland are having a organ built which is going to in traditional Mortier style. The organ is going to based on the 101 key Mortier scale and its going to have 800 pipes, two accordions and full percussion section using a special scale of approximately 122-4 key which will make it the largest travelling dance hall organ in the world (by scale). The organ is going to built by: Willem Kelders and his family and Martin Conrads. The organs name is "Mercury" and the brand new facade will also be constructed in traditional dance organ style. The organ is going to built in the RBA workshop and some of the pipe will be coming from pre-war dance organs that sadly didn't survive. The organ will be a 'working organ' as it will be travel extensively each year helping to continue the great tradition of its predeccesors from the famous dance hall organ firms such as Mortier, Decap, Duwyn and Hooghuys. 'Mercury' will make its debut appearance at an event in Switzerland next year and the entire project is expected to be fully completed by mid 2010. The organ will be playing both on books & midi like Victory and Locomotion.
