This year's Organ Alley was a great success, despite the weather being worse than last year. I suppose that we were spoiled with the 2005 weather, even though it was probably too hot!
The evening events had the marquee packed with enthusiasts and visitors.
We had Hiddo Van Os and Jan Kees giving us a terrific accordion concert accompanied by Graham Spencer's 55 key Leach 'De Angelena'.

The Pell family gave us a specially arranged version of Lily Marlene.

The Saturday morning organ sale was well attended, even if it was by visitors sheltering from the rain!

Alan Pell's new 'Barrel Organ' uses a well known brand of beer bottle!
Alan Pell's new 'Barrel Organ'. I suggested that the beer pump handle should be linked to the bellows, so you have a good reason to be pulling beer all day!

The lighting controller mechanism in Decap organ 'Lucy'. The swiveling blocks contain mercury switches, which are activated by air motors, controlled by the organ's registers. These operate lights hidden inside the organ front.

Hi Ben, thanks for your feedback on the pictures.
I still have some pictures of the Great Dorset to post when I have finished selecting them. I will probably post them in the Vintage Rally Photo Gallery, when I am ready.
Yes, a great time was had by all at this year's GDSF, even despite the grim weather!
Hope you (and I) make it to the next event and hopefully for the 40th in two year's time.
Best regards,
Dave |

I have uploaded a video of Hiddo & Jan & Graham's accordion performance (4.3MB RealMedia): http://www.dsvc.co.uk/video/organ_alley_hiddojan.rm
Or a smaller, lower quality Windows Media Video (1.5MB): http://www.dsvc.co.uk/video/organ_alley_hiddojan.wmv
These may open in a separate window which you need to close after viewing, to return to the Forum.
I wouldn't recommend attempting to view them if you are not on Broadband, as they are probably too big for a dial-up connection.
Regards,
Dave |
