Sadly I have to report the shock news that another North West Group member "Ernie Clouston" was suddenly taken from us this morning after suffering a heart attack while attending the "Lymm Christmas Festival".
I was talking to Ernie at Stuarts Funeral yesterday and he appeared to be his normal self.

Our sincere condolences go to his Wife and Family at this very sad time.
R.I.P

George.

I can't believe this, this is such bad news. I have been friends with Ernie for many years. My sympathy goes out to his wife and brother Peter and the rest of his family.

R.I.P Ernie, you'll be sadly missed.

I am deeply sadened too. I have known Peter years and got to know his through the Fairground side of things rather than the organs. In the end I got to know them from both sides and ended up working on their organ.

It was only yesterday at Stuarts funeral that we were laughing and joking and he was sat having a pint with Peter. He seemed in good health, but there you go...

Bye Mate!

Ernie was another one of those colourful characters that I have been meeting over the past few years.

After North West Group FOPS meetings, a few of us would return to Stuart's house and have a cuppa, where Ernie and Stuart would be telling rude jokes!

I asked him how he was when we were at Stuart's funeral last Friday and he said "Well, I just keep taking the tablets!" and that was Ernie to a tee, he would always have a laugh ready to roll!

I wondered whether he had received an invitation from Stuart to go and join him in that showground in the sky, where they can tell bad jokes all day..."Hey, God have you heard the one about...".

I've only known Ernie for a short time, about 15 years but it seems longer, having had a natter at rallies and group meetings with him.
When I spoke to him at Stuart's farewell he told me he wasn't better but he was getting there. As Peter and Ernie were leaving Painters he shook my hand and I said, as I had done many times, "Look afterd lad". As always he replied "Mi kid brother? aye a will"
What an awful shock when I got the message from George.
My thoughts are with Peter and Ernie's family at this terrible time.
Goodbye Ernie RIP.

I don't confess to knowing Ernie as much as some, but all the same I will miss him.
Memories of Ernie--well I suppose I first came across him at an open day at Heaton Park about 1980 when he and Peter used to have their Bursens organ(you know the one you could only hear when the you were on top of it)the reson being that it was built as are a lot of the bursens dance organs for inside use.I was stood infront of the organ and Ernie came up to me and said "Do you like organs then"and showed me inside the truck and explained all the workings and told me about the fair organ preaservation society. From that day on I used to see Ernie a lot and we would talk about this and that. The great thing about him was that he always had time for everyone no matter what he was doing.Ernie Clouston will be sadly missed,a true gentleman and a friend.

R.I.P.
