The 2006 Smallwood rally near Sandbach in Cheshire, took place last weekend (July 22nd/23rd).

It was originally scheduled for the 27th/28th May 2006, but due to a spell of lousy weather, it had to be cancelled.

The main theme of the event this year was the 150th anniversary of Foden's. Apparently, some of the Foden family were born only yards away from the rally field, although I hasten to add that it was some time ago!

Due to the rescheduling of the event, the only organs in attendance were:

Frank Heaton's "Royal Bruder"

..and George Houghton's Pell "The Piper"

The changing face of Foden

Foden Showman's lorry in all its splendour!

Gardner generator on Showman's lorry

This crew decided to have an Indian theme...Teepee and all!

Chief Big Engine?

Wagons, sorry Engines roll!

Foden steamers

Foden Steamer "Victoria"

Steamers line up in the arena

The Smallwood rally is one of the only to provide public seating!

Mr Richard Trevithick is looking well for his age!

Foden steam wagons

An impressive turnout of miniature steam

Preparing for a days steaming!

For this couple and their miniature steamer, this was their first ever rally!

The encouraging sight of a young steam enthusiast!

No matter how small the engine, those darn tubes still need cleaning!

A hectic day on the Stationary Engines!

Stationary Engine (if you have any details, please let us know)

Even the oil cans are classics!

The Classic cars were well represented

A novel solution for Land Rover camping enthusiasts!

The craft marquee had a well presented selection of models

The Tractor section

The Motorcycle section

Happy Rallying, Dave Stubbs

Some great pictures Dave .

The Land Rover Camping pic reminded me of the war years when Petrol was rationed. Some vehicles had a canvas bag structure fitted on the roof which was filled with coal gas as a replacement for petrol.
I dont think the Health & Safety officials would allow that today. Laughing
Regards
George.
